How it began
Christianity is around 2000 years old. It began in a part of the Middle East where Judaism was the main faith. It developed from the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ was a man who was born in Bethlehem, and lived in Palestine. Christians believe he is the son of God, and that he was sent to save us all from death and sin. His life is the example of how God wants people to live. Jesus was crucified but came back from the dead at the Resurrection.
Jesus Christ's teachings spread and grew popular across the Roman Empire.

About worship
Christians generally worship on Sundays, because they believe this is the day of the week that Jesus came back from the dead.
Christian services can include hymns, readings from the Bible, prayers, sermons, symbols and rituals.
Communion services are held to remember the Last Supper which was the last meal Jesus had with his friends, the disciples, before he was crucified.
In these services, sometimes called the Mass or the Eucharist, bread and wine are used to represent the body and blood of Jesus. For some Christians, Catholics and Orthodox, Jesus is really present with them in the bread and wine. For other Christians, Protestants the bread and wine are just symbolic.
Some Christians go without certain foods for Lent, and may fast (go without all food) on Ash Wednesday.
