Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) 2007 The Jewish East End Celebration Society, supported by the Borough of Tower Hamlets, organised a programme of events for Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) 2007. All events listed were free, and open to the public. The theme of HMD 2007 is "The Dignity of Difference." Sunday 12th – Eid Party at Teviot Neighbourhood Centre Take part in a special event to launch Inter Faith Week and explore how we can build community cohesion within our borough. |
**Opening Event** Monday 13th - Rich Mix Faith communities explore how we can continue to build community cohesion within our borough in an uncertain national and international climate. Sharing insights with Rev Alan Green, Chair of Tower Hamlets Inter Faith Forum, and Dr Harriet Crabtree, Deputy Director of Inter Faith Network for the UK. This half-day event will also feature an interactive audience perception survey to understand current local community relations. |
Monday 13th – Film Night at Rich Mix Watch ‘Faiths United’ - a film made by young people living in Tower Hamlets (5min) then Le Grand Voyage, a French film with English subtitles (104min).

Tuesday 14th – Exhibition at Ninetythree Gallery ‘Children Ask, Faiths Respond’ exhibition featuring children’s drawings and questions along with responses from different faith leaders. |
Wednesday 15th – Guided Tour of Museum of Immigration See inside a unique building featuring an exhibition on the experiences of immigrants and people of different faiths that have lived here. |
Thursday 16th - Workshop Explore prejudice and discrimination against faith communities and examine whether faith can bring people together (for people aged 11-21). |
Friday 17th – Faith Comedy Night at Wilton Music Hall Enjoy an evening with comedians talking about their own experiences of being someone of their faith. |
Saturday 18th – Faith trail Visit the places of worship of different faith communities. |
Sunday 19th – Music and Food Festival Come along to hear devotional music and sample foods associated with different religious festivals. |
