Islam is the religion of Muslims. There are more than 73,000 Muslims in Tower Hamlets. This means Islam is the second biggest religion in Tower Hamlets. The religion of Islam came to Tower Hamlets more than 300 years ago. It was the religion of seamen and merchants who came from the Middle East and Africa. Over many years other Muslims from places like Bangladesh, the Balkans, Malaysia and East Africa have come to live here. |
