January 29 Yuan Tan Chinese New Year. 2006 is the Year of the Dog.
February 12 Teng Chieh Falls on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month and marks the first full moon of the year with the Lantern Festival. April 5 Ch’ing Ming Traditionally takes place around the fifth day of the month. People visit family tombs, sweeping and tidying. Offerings of food and wine are made to the spirits of the dead.
May Dragon Boat Festival 31 Held in honour of China’s great poet Ch’u Yuan. People race dragon boats and eat rice dumplings to commemorate him.
